Bynum Injury Update.

This injury just kills me. Right when them man establishes himself as a monstrous center, something stupid like this always seems to happen. I just hope it's nothing too serious. GET WELL SOON BYNUM!

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum left the game against the Memphis Grizzlies in the first quarter Saturday night with a sprained right knee.

Lakers officials said X-rays were negative and further tests will be done Sunday in New York. The Lakers play the Knicks on Monday night.

The injury occurred at about the 7-minute mark of the first quarter under the Lakers' basket. Kobe Bryant was drove to the basket, missed the shot and crashed into Bynum's right leg. Bynum immediately grabbed his knee.

The two were on the ground under their basket as the Grizzlies went to the other end. After Los Angeles gained possession, they called time out. Bynum was helped to the locker room with Los Angeles leading 13-11.

Bynum missed the final 46 games of last season with a left knee injury he suffered against Memphis on Jan. 13, 2008.

I thought Jim Hill made a great point after the locker interview. "The most important part f that interview was seeing him smile." And it's true, it shows that he's okay. And when asked if he remains optimistic, Bynum replied "I have to be optimistic."
